Raised in the Elven enclave of Aluvitar, Sylvios found he always preferred the densely packed jungles of concrete and brick to his homeland of forests. As a child he would accompany his parents on monthly trips to Velandria where they would sell their crafts in the markets. His parents hated the city, but the human populace were willing to pay a premium for their exotic Elven crafts than any Elves in the enclave of course would or could. For Sylvios these monthly trips were the one thing he looked forward to, and when he came of age he left Aluvitar, moving to Velandria without a plan or idea, but simply a dream to wake up in the city every morning.
He bounded through odd jobs for years, as a dock worker, fisherman, carpenter, courier and a long list of others, yet none seemed to truly bring him any satisfaction. It wasn’t until he found a job in a certain warehouse that his life truly took its current trajectory, where his colleagues would have regular dice nights at a small gambling den that had just opened up a few blocks down from them. The establishment was run by a young halfling who called himself Skilet. One of Sylvios’ colleagues earned a considerable debt with the halfling, with a looming threat of breaking his legs should he not comply with repayment. Sylvios took this as an opportunity for a career change however, volunteering to Skilet to instead work for him in the Gambling Den to repay his colleague’s debts.
The halfling was taken aback by the gesture, but accepted the elf’s service. It was only after that Sylvios came to realise the true extent of the underground work that the halfling dealt in, though he find he had a knack for it, with the experiences usually leaving him invigorated and full of life. That was sixty years ago, and now he is one of the oldest serving members of the Rossa Cartel, though preferred staying as a specialist on the street than joining the ranks of officers whose lives were spent behind desks. Though being a “profit assurance manager” might sound just like that, in reality Sylvios spends most his evenings on the floors of Cartel owned casinos across Tharador, cutting the coinpurses of the big winners after they left the venue, mugging them or simply seducing them and taking home their winnings in the morning. For the evening of the Crescent Moon’s Sixtieth Anniversary, he knew had a very big score to grab, being the winner of the jackpot if it was anyone other than the Cartel’s nominated patsy.
